Certainly, no one wants to end up in the emergency room. However, it's always a good idea to be organized and prepared before something happens. This means that you should take a few precautions in case you do have to go to the emergency room.
Such precautions include the following:
1. Put an emergency contact list by the phone. This should include 911, and two phone numbers for people you would call in case of an emergency.
2. Have all of your health materials in one place and ready to go in the event of an emergency. This would include your health card, a list of medications you take and allergies you have and any other relevant materials.
3. Know which emergency room you want to go to. Speak to your primary care physician about this so that you'll know which hospital he is affiliated with or which one he recommends.
4. Know how to get to the emergency room. You won't necessarily need an ambulance to go to the ER. Knowing how to get there will cut down on your stress in the event of an emergency.
